NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

To the Editors of the CRIMSON :

Just a line to set a few matters straight and to comment on how difficult it is to keep the record straight after one is away. It doesn't make any difference to me what you print at Harvard; I won't be coming back there, first, because of all your lovely publicity, I guess I have been expunged or whatever the process is, and second because I have no desire to return in the first place. However when you gave my story to the United Press you probably get me in serious trouble with the Federal authorities. So I wish to state most strongly that I sent no dynamite or any explosive of any sort through the mail. Get that straight.

As for the rest of the story, you can print anything in our rag that you so desire just so long as you don't make up anything more that will get me in trouble with the law. I'm as good a scape-goat as any, and you can probably invent some pretty fine stories. Send the clippings to me when you print them for my scrapbook if you would be so kind. I would like you to print this letter if you want to but print it in its entirely and don't, please, add any little inventions of your own. Leigh Cross ex-'51

(Ed. Note--The story in question appeared in the CRIMSON on November 22, it roads, in part, as follows: "Friends of Cross reported he had mailed the dynamatic and firing caps to Cambridge..." This is not in incriminating statement. The United Press not its story by reading the CRIMSON, which it is free to do.)
