Lowell, Eliot Triumph In House Court Loop

With players scurrying off for vacations, the House League yesterday barely managed to round out its last full day of play that included six basketball games, one hockey game, and two squash meets. Fighting to the end, Leverett and Adams players will meet tomorrow at dawn in the final game of 1948.

In A League basketball, the classy, high-rated Lowell team continued its victory streak with a solid 51 to 23 win over Adams. The Bellboy five couldn't miss, scoring on set shots, hook shots by John Altrocchi, and fast drive ins by high scorer (21) "Goldie" Goldsmith. The squad also kept firm control of the backboards. In the B League game, Adams beat Lowell , 19 to 15.

Eliot also continued its winning ways by edging a previously undefeated Kirkland squad by two points in an up and down, 31 to 29 game. The score changed almost as often as shots were sunk, but despite heroic efforts by the Deacon's tall center John Lombard, a last minute basket and foul by Fred England clinched the game for the Mastodons.

Absence of key men hurt both Winthrop and Dunster yesterday but Dunster, minus John Brunsman and Chuck Brynteson, suffered more, losing 44 to 33.

Dudley downed Leverett in a sloppy 35 to 23 game, characterized mainly by the number of easy shots the Bunnies missed. In the B League game, Dudley won 31 to 19.

The one hockey game, a dawn affair between Lowell and Kirkland, saw the Deacons win easily, 4 to 1, as penalties kept the Bellboys in their own territory throughout.

In squash, Lowell won in the A League, 4 to 0, and in the B League, 3 to 2, over Kirkland.
