Stan Priddy's freshman hockey team will make it official debut at 4 p.m. today against Newton High School on Boston Arena ice with varsity coach John Chase as spectator.

Coach Priddy said yesterday that the freshmen are in much better shape for their opener than last year's squad. The '52 skaters have been holding daily practise in the Arena as soon as the varsity winds up its sessions.

Praising the work of the entire squad, Coach Priddy gave special praise to the Crimson defensemen. Judging by recent scrimmages with local high school teams and with Andover, Priddy said that defense appears to be the freshmen's strongest department.

The freshman team has three more contests scheduled before Christmas vacation. They will play Brown at Providence next Tuesday, St. Mark's at Southborough January 8, and Andover here January 19.
