Even as the freshman football team enjoys top billing at Soldiers Field this afternoon, behind the barricades of the Blood Pit the Jayvee squad takes on Leicester Junior College. It will be the first game of the season for the Jayvees.
For his first contest as Jayvee mentor, Coach Ben McCabe will enjoy something of a windfall. Some half a dozen men who did not travel with the varsity to Cornell but would have dressed for a home game bolster his squad. Foremost of these is halfback Pete Petrille.
The Jayvee will use plays similar to the Varsity as the team's offense, but more T formation material can be expected, perhaps even some winged T. "I like to mix it up a littl,e" said McCabe of his strategy.
Very little is known at the present moment of the strength or style of play of Leicester.
