Yardling Tennis Team Wins Opener, 6-3, as Jayvees Play 4-4 Tie

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Thwarted by rain in three previous attempts to open the season, the Freshman tennis team got off to a successful, if belated, start yesterday by trouncing Milton Academy 6 to 3 on the schoolboy's home courts. Meanwhile the Jayvees traveled to Exeter Academy, battling to a 4 to 4 tie before rain washed out the last two doubles matches.

Johnny Frey and Fred Deane were outstanding for the Yearlings, each turning in a decisive win in singles before teaming up to take their doubles match easily.

The lineups: Freshmen -- Singles: Hughes, Nicholl, Kaynes, Frey, Deane, and Preston. Doubles: Hughes and Nicholl, Frey and Deane, Preston and Zinsser.

Jayvees--Singles: Ames, Ecker, Briggs, Ferdinand, Greyshaw, and Burke. Doubles: Ames and Briggs.
