Varsity Tees Off Against Bowdoin Golf Team Today

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

With the winds of a recent 6 to 3 win over M.I.T., whipping at their heels, the Varsity golfers will tramp the Winchester fairways this afternoon in an effort to make a smooth-stroking Bowdoin team their second victim of the season.

Bowdoin hopes are considerably bolstered by the presence of the Maine Amateur Golf Champion, in the number one slot, and a crew of well-trained men closing the ranks.

Teeing off today for the Varsity will be Coach Bill Barclay's revised lineup, based on a new set of play-offs held this week at the Lexington Country Club.

Wilcox Leads Off

Only two clubbers to retain the same ranking they held in the M.I.T. match are Tyke Wilcox, who topped the list Saturday, and Bob Orr, who was placed right below Wilcox. Both men whipped their individual opponents, but playing together, lost their best-ball match.

Bill Rickenbacker and Walter Butler, veterans of last year's informal club, will occupy the third and fourth posts in their first competition of the season today.

Holding down the last two positions on the team will be Sam Savidge and Lincoln Kinicutt, whose order has been switched since last week, when they won their individual and best-ball matches against the men from down the Charles.

Wednesday the golf team will journey to Williamstown to face Williams in the Crimson's third match of the year.
