Fourteen ring neophytes will battle for local boxing laurels in the finals of the University's first postwar cauliflower carnival this afternoon and evening in the third floor boxing room of the Indoor Athletic Building. The tourney is open to the public.
Most interesting bout of the evening will probably be the three-rounder between fleet, vicious, one-armed Tommy Rodgers and Somerby Dowst. Rodgers' jarring, flailing right hand earned him a unanimous decision yesterday from John Lord.
Opening with the 145 and 175-pound brawls at 4:30 and 5 o'clock respectively, tonight's card continues at 7:45 o'clock with the 125-pound class and runs through the unlimited final at 8:45 o'clock. Three two-minute rounds with a minute rest comprise a match.
