Leverett's Bunnies hopped into a first place tie with the fast-finishing Lowell quintet in the final game of the House basketball season last night, as they held Dudley to the short end of a 29 to 21 score.
Although they kept within shooting distance all the way, Dudley proved no match for the well-oiled Leverett five, whose zone defense was especially effective on the narrow number two court of the indoor Athletic Building, Norm Cameron and Joe Hurley were Leverett's top scorers in the defensive contest, with three field goals apiece.
Doe Johnson of the Commuters, while caging only one field goal, took high point honors by sinking six foul shots for a total score of eight.
Lowell Target Tonight
Tied with Lowell for the House League lead, Leverett meets the Bellboys in a playoff tonight to decide which team tackles the Yale entry this Saturday at New Haven. The points for first and second place which basketball standings contribute toward the winning of the Straus intramural trophy will be evenly divided between the two teams, however, regardless of the outcome of the game.
The Lowell give is gunning for its ninth straight triumph tonight, while Leverett will attempt to regain the supremacy which second to be theirs when they won their first eight games of the season.
Donahoc Hits Often
Fred Donahoe, high scorer of the House loop, is the big gun of the Lowell attack Mike Post, Paul Haskell, Dana Bresnahan, and Walt Coulson will round out the starting lineup for the Bellboys, whose season ended last week when they climaxed a month-long drive from fifth place by pushing Leverett out of the lead and ensuring themselves at least a tie for first.
