Eliot's Elephants forgot the script last night and bottled up the Lowell quintet for three quarters of the game, but the Bellboys broke away in the final period and roped in their eighth straight win of the House basketball race, 42 to 34.
Paced by high scorer Bob Crichton, the sixth place Elephants fought gamely to hold Lowell to a two point lead at the start of the last quarter. But the drive which has brought Lowell from a second-division club to the leading contender for Leverett's first place berth was not to be dented, and the Bellboys, with Fred Donahoe and Dana Bresnahan leading the way, netted 17 points in the final five minutes to triumph.
The day's only other contest saw Dudley walk off with a 39 to 28 victory over Adams. Dave Bishop of the Commuters was high point man with an even dozen.
