Columbia's fencers obtained an early 6 to 3 lead in foils Saturday at New York, and, in spite of last event attempts by the Crimson Varsity, kept a slight edge to come through for a 14 to 13 victory.
Going into the epee, which proved to be the decisive event, with the 6 to 3 score against them, the Varsity tightened up, but not quits enough and went into the saber bouts with the chips stacked, 11 to 7, in favor of the Lions. The six points scored by the saber team was not enough to offset Columbia's three, and the final score stayed tipped against the Varsity.
