Two Harvard economists went out on the limb about inflation last week, but when they were done, Mr. Average Citizen was as confused as before, for they came to almost directly opposite conclusions.

Summer H. Slichter, Lamont University professor, saw a continued rise in prices in the offing.

Gottfried Haberler, professor of Economics, hold a contrary view, believing that only "credit controls and the budget surplus" are needed to end the current inflationary trend within a year.
