Four Teams Clash Today as Intramural Football Begins

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Grunts, groans, and a sort of gridiron glory will brighten some of the losser luminaries in the College athletic firmament this afternoon when the inter-House football league competition gets underway

The scheduled released by Dolph Samborski, director of intramural athletics, finds eight of the nine league teams swinging into action this week. Adam's Gold Coasters will open the festivities at 4 o'clock this afternoon when they take the field against the Dunster House eleven. At the same time on a neighboring plot, the Commuters from Dudley will clash with the Eliot House Mastodons.

Two Tomorrow

Action in the chase after the crown now held by Bucky Harrison's Kirkland House gridders will keep up at a furious pace with two more games scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Lowell House will meet the defending champs in one tilt of the afternoon's twin bill and Winthrop will round out the week's schedule against Leverett House's rapid rabbits.

The only team that will not indulge in the football niceties this week is the Dorm team made up of upperclassmen who are not assigned to a House. Nicknamed the Outhouses, they will not be committed to combat until the middle of next week.

Boost to Trophy

Winner of the loop title will get a 150-point boost towards the coveted Straus trophy now held by Leverett House and also a crack at the winner of the Yale intercollegiate competition come November. All other Houses in the league will play Eli colleges also, being paired off with a team having the same standing in the New Haven loop.
