A thief removed a new $450 Munroe calculator from the Social Relations offices on the third floor of Emerson Hall some time between October 6 and 11, Chief Randall's office reported to the Cambridge police last night.
The theft was not discovered until the office staff returned from their extended Columbus Day weekend and needed the machine for their work. Randall's office had no leads for the local constables other than to forward the machine's model and serial number.
Pointing out that the University had been very late in reporting the machine missing, the police observed, "Harvard had better get a new calculator."
