Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
Bill Wightman, Varsity Coach Bob Ashley's number three singles man, became the first player to enter the quarter-finals of the University summer tennis tournament this weekend, when he won a three-set victory over Edus Warren, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Play in the tournament thus far has been held up by inability of opponents to find convenient dates for a meeting, and Wightman is the only racqueteer to enter the final eight.
Ashley, a graduate student and the favorite in the tournament, won his first round match over Ed Finkestein with little trouble, dropping only a single game in a 6-0, 6-1 triumph. Ashley is slated next to meet Hal Melvin, a member of the Varsity squad, with the winner scheduled to face Wighman.
Favorites Win
Other team members who survived first and second round matches include Fred Flickinger, whose opening win was a bitter three-set affair, 6-2, 5-7, 9-7; Andy Muldoon, who won his first match by default; Travis Gresham, also a winner by default; Bill Mayleas, with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph, and Bill Brady, who had little trouble with his opening fee.
