Stickmen Snatch Win Off Lawrence, 8 to 6

Showing marked improvement over its performance in last Saturday's practice game, the Varsity lacrosse team opened its season by downing Lawrence Academy to the tune of 8 to 6 at Soldiers Field yesterday.

Led by Bob Richards who scored twice for the Crimson, the lacrossemen tallied in every period. Despite streaks of sloppiness and the need for more coordination of the midfield and the defense, the team played a fast, clean game and took advantage of every break.

George Wood and Ed Dewey at midfield, and Don Louria and Jack Graham at defense turned in steady performances while net minder Shubet batted away what appeared to be several sure Lawrence scores.

The two Murphy brothers, one bolstering the attack and the other the defense, also proved troublesome obstacles.
