Crimson hockey and swimming teams will resume formal Ivy League competition this year for the first time since 1942, according to schedules compiled last week during the annual New York meeting of the Eastern Athletic Conference, at which plans were laid for the holding of the 1947 Heptagonal Track Games at Soldiers Field on May 17.
At the week-long sessions during which 1947 schedules were reviewed, and sites and dates for eight championship events settled, the Conference elected William J. Bingham '16, Director of Athletics, as president of the Eastern Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Sheived throughout the war period, the Hobey Baker Memorial Trophy is being placed back in competition by the Pen tagonal Hockey League, with Army, Dartmouth, Yale, and Harvard scheduled to contest for 1947 honors. Lacking ice facilities for practice and games, Princeton will remain inactive this year but is expected to compete in 1948.
The Conference also formulated a round-robin schedule of dual meets among the eight schools of the Eastern Intercollegiate Swimming League. With membership at full strength for the first time since the war, the League will climax this year's activities in the Seventh Annual Individual Championship Meet at the Yale pool on March 21 end 22. With its athletic, building destroyed by fire, Princeton has been forced to transfer all of its home meets with league opponents to the latters' tanks.
Varsity hockey schedule: Feb. 8, Army away; Feb. 15, Dartmouth, away, Feb. 26, Dartmouth, home; March 1, Yale, home; March 8, Yale, away.
