Sinking six straight baskets to open the fourth quarter, the Jayvee quintet battled to victory over the Boston Coast Guard five, 54 to 47, last night in the Indoor Athletic Building, before a crowd consisting mostly of varsity, basketeers. It was opening game of the season for both teams.

Up to the fourth period the struggle was close, with both opponents losing innumerable scoring opportunities, which combined with tight defensive play kept them within four points of each other.

In the final stanza, an inspired Jayvee team took to the floor, and, sparked by Bob Crotty and Mike Dehco, they put on a three minute basket barrage that netted twelve points and broke the game wide open.

High scorers of the contest were the wearers of number 11 of both teams, Crotty and sailor Bob Schade, a former Southern California freshman player, each with a total of 20 points.

The summary:   G  F  Total Deheo, rf  7  1  15 Crotty, lf  9  2  20 Rosinus  0  0  0 Nelson, c  0  0  0 Everett  1  0  2 Sullivan, rg  0  0  0 Athas  0  4  4 Markham  0  0  0 Hymans, lg  3  1  7 Brademas  3  0  6 Total  23  8  54
