49 NROTC to Be Commissioned; Admiral Pye Will Make Awards

Forty-nine members of the Naval ROTC Unit will receive commissions in the United States Naval Reserve or in the United States Marine Corps Reserve tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock during exercises which climax a seven term accelerated program of study. Vice Admiral W. S. Pye, USN. President of the Naval War College of Newport, Rhode Island, will award the commissions and address the men.

George H. Chase '96, Dean of the University, will also address the men upon receiving their commissions. Captain C. H. J. Keppler, USN, Commanding Officer Naval Training Schools (Harvard), a graduate of the Naval War College, Class of 1930, will present the admiral.

University Hall's Faculty Room, where many College exercises take place when the larger capacity of Sanders Theatre is not required, will provide a dignified setting for the brief but formal ceremonies.

Representing almost two-thirds of the last NROTC class selected from the civilian college, the men are all members of the Class of 1946. Arriving in the fall of 1942, the men were required to remain in college for a full seven terms.
