Harriers Set For 3.7 Race

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

When Jaako Mikkola's Crimson harries open the 1944 cross country season tomorrow against Worcester Tech, it will be the first time since last month's Decathlon meet that the team will run together as a complete unit.

Heavy lab periods and examinations have kept some of the squad members from working out regularly at 4:45 o'clock, and although practice sessions have been strenuous, the team has not yet rounded into the high-powered outfit that characterized peacetime Crimson harrier teams.

Correll Out

With only Captain Mark Tuttle returning from last year's team, and with Freshman civilian Sid Correll, running number 3, out with an ankle injury, Mikkola has little enough to go on. He says, though, the team is ready, and that "it will be a good meet. It's so hard to say about cross country; it's a long distance and it takes experience before new runners can really do something. The first meet will show us a whole lot."

Tuttle Will Lead Team

If Worcester enters ten men, the Crimson will match them with the following harriers: Captain Mark Tuttle, Jim Foley, Bob Frye, and Wayne Homans, all of the NROTC; Charlie Atwell, Dick Lewis, Jack Noble, Bob Rochelle, and George Voss, of the V-12; and civilian Steve Cady.

All men will report to Manager Bob Caploe outside Dillon Field House at 1:15 o'clock sharp to warm up for the race, which starts at 2 o'clock. Navy men competing in the meet will be excused from all military drill formations preceding the Stadium review. They will, however, take part in the parade, which enters the Stadium at 2:45 o'clock.
