With a week of strenuous distance work under their belts, Jaako Mikkola's runners will be ready for MIT tomorrow afternoon, when the two teams line up outside Newell Boat House to start the 3.7 mile dual meet which will conclude cross country competition for the season.
Techmen Have Slight Edge
Last Tuesday Mikkola put his team through a brisk six mile workout along the riverbank and on Wednesday followed up with speed work in the cinders. On paper, tomorrow's race should be fairly close, with the edge going to the engineers on the strength of their depth through the middle with Poorman, Goldie, and Ray. Running number two, three, and four for M. I. T., these men form the backbone of a well-balanced team.
Injuries which have jinxed Sid Correll and Jim Foley for most of the season, will definitely keep both of these regulars out of tomorrow's race. States coach Mikkola, "the team will have to turn in their best effort of the year to win this one."
The Crimson team that will await the starter's gun at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon is as follows: Atwell, Cady, Dick, Farrow, Homans, Lewis, Noble, Rochelle, Steinbaur, and Tuttle (captain).
So far, the team has split even in two meets, beating Worcester Tech, 26-31, and losing to Tufts last Saturday, 23-33.
