FOOTBALL MEETING TONIGHT AT 7:30

What sort of football Harvard will play this fall is going to be determined tonight at 7:30 o'clock in the Indoor Athletic Building at a meeting of all undergraduates interested in the sport.

Men who expect to play House football and those ineligible for intercollegiate sport because of Navy or College regulations are expected, along with those who want to play on whatever the Varsity is called as well as managerial candidates.

To Decide Schedule

The number and estimated ability of the men turning out tonight will probably be the deciding factor in making the schedule, since at the moment nobody knows what talent is available. The intramural program will also be affected by the turnout.

In view of the many-sidedness of gridiron activity, the meeting will be addressed by four speakers--Carroll F. Getchell, acting director of athletics; Henry Lamar, Varsity football coach; Ensign Raymond J. Adkins, in charge of V-12 sports; and Adolph W. Samborski director of intramural athletics.

At the practice sessions, which start Monday, Lamar, who coached the Jayvees last year, will be in charge, assisted by Floyd Stahl, backfield coach. Navy Chief Specialists attached to the V-12 Unit will also help out with the coaching.

The chiefs will combine football with combative sports for V-12 Freshmen who are not allowed to play on Varsity squads, and the program may include other men also.

Unknown Stars May Help

V-12 presents the big question mark for the coaches. The Unit includes a number of men who have played football here, but the quality of the team depends on just how many of the beautiful stories about gridiron stars from other parts of the country are true.

The known group includes Paul Perkins, Swede Anderson, George Hibbard, Steve Mallett, and Bobby Byrnes from the Varsity squad; Paul Garrity, Rick Woodruff, and Don Blake from the Junior Varsity; and Herman Stromberg, Ray, Eder, Townsend Ellis, and Howie Gleason from the spring practice squad.
