Two Day Institute on Asiatic Affairs Scheduled to Start Today at Littauer

Chinese Shows, Lectures on Far East Highlight Program

Lectures and discussions on the Far East will dominate the two day Institute on Asiatic Affairs to be held today and tomorrow in the Lounge of the Littaue Center of Public Administration. The six-session meeting, which will feature a talk by William H. Chamberlin, former Far Eastern correspondent of the Christian Science Monitor, is sponsored jointly by the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the American Council of the Institute of Pacific Relations.

The Institute will open today at 9 o'clock with the registration, followed by the opening session at 10, when talks on the Philippines and Indo-China will be given by Catherine Porter and Olov R. T. Jense, while Clifford Bragdon, a Sheldon Fellow here, will act as a chairman.

Associate Professor of Education Howard E. Wilson will be chairman of the afternoon session at 2:30 at which William Holland of the Pacific Relations Institute will give a talk on "Key Problems in Asia Today."

At the 8-o'clock evening session the Red Gate Players will show to the subscribers to the Institute the classic drama of old China, featuring "The Legend of the Willow Plate " in five scenes.

The emphasis will be on teaching in Wednesday's morning session when Marguerite A Stuart of the Pacific Institute will speak.

Chamberlin will speak in the after a over session about "The struggle for the Far East." The discussion afterwards will be conducted by Professor of Education Henry W. Holmes, Chairman of the University Committee on Educational Relations.
