CREATING A RIPPLE

By Ens. RUTH Wolgast

Buried amidst Supply specimens the last couple of weeks gave us a chance to catch our breath. Evidently one of our profound instructors was impressed by our zest; he stated (and sadly)

"Let me without seeming bitter call your attention to a splendid little volume 'Sand A Memo."

And it really is--all of that. A few of us were glancing through it yesterday and were quite impressed.

Met two starry-eyed young WAVES in front of Schraffts this afternoon. Since this is between replenishment periods, we deduced Radar; was right. Gave them desired directions and they mentioned, (all the while glancing surreptiously at passing uniforms) that there seemed to be possibilities here. Trying in vain to match their eagerness I assented and rushed home in order not to miss second mess.

If we seem to be blase it is only a pose. Why, just last Saturday over 100 of us made the one o'clock train to New York and sundry points. Nuff said.

Then there was a Purchase exam the Monday after the weekend. With eager hands we grasped our blue books, having had two days in which to study!--well two days, anyhow!

Tomorrow dawns the Navy Relief dance sponsored by Mrs. McIntosh said Mrs. Hesser. We'll be there! I wonder--but no! There are others even more in need!
