Replacing Joseph C. Grew '02, Walter S. Gifford '05, of New York City was elected president of the University's Alumni Association at a meeting held at the Harvard Club of Boston last Saturday night.

Gifford, at present president of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company, is the national chairman of Red Cross 1943 War Fund Drive. His term will last for one year from the day after Commencement.

Grew, who has been heading the College's 80,000 alumni, was the former United States Ambassador to Japan. His last duty, which Gifford will assume, will be to deliver a speech before a meeting of the Alumni on Graduation afternoon.

James P. Baxter, 3rd, Joseph S. Graydon '98, and Charles C. Lund '16, were the three men elected vice-presidents of the organization. Dr. Baxter, president of Williams College, received an A. M. degree at Harvard in 1923 and a Ph.D. three years later.
