STUDENTS AT NAVAL SCHOOL CONTINUE COLLEGE RIVALRIES

Will Be Seated According To Alma Maters Tomorrow

College rivalries, long hidden under a now-common school and a mutual goal, will blossom forth again tomorrow night in the Union. Naval Training officers dining there will be seated according to their respective alma maters, the Scuttlebutt reports today.

Just to make things more interesting, the Arrangements Committee will sit men from one college or university next to the alumni of their bitterest rival. The committee went to exhaustive lengths in making the survey of colleges, and they found no less than 114 institutions represented.

California Leads

Leading the list with 28 members in the Naval Training School, University of California graduates will probably find themselves near the 16 alumni of Stanford. One of the biggest surprises emanating from the Scuttlebutt list is the number of West Coast men in attendance. Southern California, Washington, Oregon, and Oregon State have sizable quotas.

But what is more interesting from a local standpoint, is the Battle of the Big Three. Eli Yale, which recently announced a Yale Plan which provides for every man in college, has two more alumni than Harvard. The Bulldog graduates number 23, and there are 21 Cambridge-educated sailors. The Princeton Tiger will be somewhat out of the running if things come to a showdown. Ten men from Old Nassau are listed at the school. M.I.T. has 16 men in training.

The Big Ten, which includes some of the largest colleges in the country, has only a handful of men, in comparison to some of its hicktown neighbors. Illinois leads the pack with 10, and the rest of the Conference dwindles down to Michigan, which has none.

Other Ivy League colleges, and their representation, are Pennsylvania, 11; Cornell, 10; Columbia, 8; Dartmouth, 7; and Brown, 5.

Every Thursday night the Arrangements Committee devises a novels seating arrangement. Last week the men were grouped on the basis of their him states.
