House Football Coaches Chosen

Samborski Expects Larger Turnout Than Ever in Fall

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Preparations for a big inter-House football program this fall are already being made by Adolph Samborski '26, director of House athletics, and last night he announced eight of the ten men who will coach the House teams.

Most of the men are from the Business School, and they represent college football teams all over the country, ranging from Big Ten champion Minnesota to UCLA out on the West Coast.

Harvard Man Chosen

Those chosen were: Herbert Hoskins of Wesleyan University, Douglas Sandow of the University of Rochester, Thomas Skeel of Amherst, James Fogelman of Dartmouth, Burt Lund of the University of Minnesota, George Tabor of UCLA, and Lewis Sandler '42, of Harvard.

Samborski expects about 240 men to report for House tackle football. Around 230 came out last year, but compulsory athletics are expected to bring out several more men.

Around 30 Men on Squad

Each House squad is usually limited to 30 players, the maximum manageable number, and each House has its own jersey and coach. For at least the first three weeks there will be practice sessions with Samborski leading calisthenics, and then the group will divide up into individual squads to work on fundamentals and plays.

Players must be in good condition to play, and a doctor, who is around at all times to treat injuries examines them before they can participate.

Adams has won the championship for the last two years and has split even in its two games with the Yale winners. Samborski hopes to have the House winner play the Yale champion again this year.
