"FRANCE FOREVER" CONDEMNS LAVAL

Harvard Unit Will Bolster French Spirit, Aid DeGaulle

Emphasizing how much the activities of Free France will contribute to the morale of the French people, George H. Gerard '43, president of the Harvard Unit of France Forever, declared soon after Laval's reinstatement, that the Unit would immediately resume its work of publicizing the truth about conditions in France.

"The Vichy Government has been set up as a tool to deceive the people as to how deep in slavery they really are--it neither can nor wants to resist Germany. Even unoccupied France is now under the control of Hitler, and all the people are completely oppressed.

"The beginning of full collaboration by the Laval regime will make all French people bittrely turn away from Vichy and hopefully turn toward the United Nations for help. From this time forward, Vichy no longer represents France."

Future plans have been mapped by the Committee of the Unit. All members will cooperate in the resumption of activities, which will include movies to raise funds for ambulances, a broadcast forum, a letter to General DeGaulle in London, and the furthering of efforts to establish Units in other colleges all over the country.
