Twelve Crews Will Practice Next Week

Twelve eights will work out twice a day during vacation as a result of yesterday's cuts which pared down the number of oarsmen rowing out of Newell to a more manageable number. Tom Bolles and Harvey Love will each handle three boats and the other six are 150's under Bert Haines' supervision.

In years past Bolles has generally kept four boats until after vacation, but with this spring's early start, the Varsity coach feels he has seen enough of his oarsmen to make keeping an extra boat unnecessary.

Varsity Shaken Up

Until recently the Varsity has been rowing as a unit, but on Wednesday Bolles moved Junior "Chuggy" Lamson into the Varsity number four slide, and yesterday Lamson was joined by his classmates Ford King at three and Johnny Richardson at two.

Lamson is the current wonder boy of the squad, for last spring he wound up on the Eliot House second crew. About a week ago Bolles moved him up to the Jayvees, where he stayed only a brief time before moving upwards again. King rowed on the Eliot firsts last year and Richardson was on the third Varsity.

In all probability there will be many more shifts before the Varsity seating is final, for the margin of difference between the first two boats has grown steadily less, and Bolles will keep on experimenting until one shell gains definite superiority over the other.

Stroke Bus Curwen will be available for work Monday, and as a starboard side spare. Bolles has kept Pete Eustis, a Sophomore. The others who will stay over worked out as follows yesterday.
