Sullivan Demands Eviction Of Cambridge Gypsy Tenants

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The presence of nine miniature communities of gypsies in Cambridge has caused the consternation of Councilman Michael A. Sullivan, leader of the sixth ward and oft-time critic of the University.

Mickey claimed that numbers of the roving fortune tellers were ensconced on Main and Herald Streets in West Cambridge, and that they had arrived from Rhode Island and points south about a month ago.

Quoting a clause from the Massachusetts Constitution, Sullivan announced his intention of proposing police action to clear the city of the gypsies and the menace to city health and morals that they brought with them. When approached at a meeting last night, he revealed that the wanderers had been given 48 hours in which to "clear out."
