A shipment of 105 double-decker beds was moved into the basement of Matthews Hall yesterday, but University officials refused to disclose specifically their purpose. The nature of the cots indicate that either Army or Navy personnel may use them or that they are intended for the execution of the plan to raise the capacity of Houses and dormitories.
Similar two-level cots are now being used by Naval cadets housed in the Business School across the river. It is understood that 800 of the beds are expected to arrive before the order will be complete. The mattresses for the brown iron frames are reported as having already arrived.
