NO HARM IN GIVING BLOOD, SAYS BOCK
"There is absolutely no evidence to believe that in the normal person any deleterious effects attend the giving of a pint of blood," Dr. Arlie VI Bock, Henry K. Oliver Professor of Hygiene said yesterday. "It has been conclusively demonstrated that under proper conditions there are no accompanying ill effects."
According to Bock, there are no detrimental effects even for those engaged in athletics. Physicians have had many years of experience with the subject, and the Red Cross provides a free medical examination as a safeguard.
"There is absolutely no reason," Bock emphasized, "for students to feel squeamish about donating blood."
