House Committees Appoint Men to Coordinate Program

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Representatives of the Student Civilian Defense groups have been appointed in each House by the House Committees to meet and coordinate their respective defense tasks, it was announced yesterday.

To keep the information collected by the University in its questionnaire up to date, the new committees are engaged in tabulating the defense activities of all the members of their Houses. In an effort to achieve an effective distribution of trained men throughout the University, they are also attempting to enroll 25 Sophomores and Juniors from each House and 100 Freshman in the new University ARP course.

Volunteer Police Needed

Acting on a request from Associate Professor Mason Hammond, head of the University Auxiliary Police, they are trying to get the 30 or more men who are needed to complete the enrollment in the new policy course.

Representatives of each House have met with E. Bernard Fleischaker '42, recently appointed Student Coordinator by the Student Council P. B. H. Defense Service Committee. All men who wish to enter civilian defense work should get in touch with their representative.

Seven Men Named

These men are: Lewis H. Polster '42 of Adams House; Donald B. Cole '44, of Dunster; William H. Young, Jr. '42, of Eliot House; Richard L. Hall '43, of Kirkland; David R. Roberts '42, of Leverett; W. Le Mar Talbot, Jr. '42, of Lowell; and Walter Kennedy '44, of Winthrop.

The committee will also establish first aid classes in all the Houses, if there is sufficient demand. To be appointed soon, representatives from the graduate schools, the dormitories, and the rooming homers will be given similar tasks.
