Freshmen will have their first opportunity to hear venerable Charles Townsend copeland '82, Boylston Professor of Rhetoric and Oratory, emeritus, as he makes a rare public appearance December 16 to give his 41st annual Christmas reading in Emerson D at 7:30.
Professor Copeland, known and revered by countless alumni as "Copey", has become an almost legendary figure around Harvard. He has served the University in various faculty positions ever since 1893, when he started as a lecturer on English Literature.
