Smarting with the memory of the 23 to 7 defeat at the hands of the Harlow-men last year, Skip Stahley's Bruins have been pointing all season for the game with the Crimson tomorrow.
Although the Crimson has scored but once victory to Brown's four, Harvard's victory over Princeton followed a 32 to 13 rout of the Brown Bear at the hands of these same Tigers. But Brown's other defeat, a 27 to 0 whitewashing by the Yale Bulldog, was followed by a comeback last week when they snatched a 20 to 14 victory from Holy Cross.
Savage Turns Tide
After Holy Cross had built up a 14 to 0 lead on the Bruins, Doc Savages, who was benched for an ankle injury, came into the ball game and remained in till the end. With a strong rally in the last quarter, Savage led his team to victory by scoring the final touchdown.
It addition to being an excellent runner, Savage handles the passing for the Brown eleven, while teammate Bob Margarita, one of the best open field runners in Brown history, takes care of the kicking and holds down the safety position. Margarita, benched early in the season by an injured cartilage, will be in the starting lineup this Saturday for the first time in three weeks.
Swingler Out
Roy Swingler, the back who returned a Harvard kick-off Brown's only touchdown last year, has been out with the same type of aukle injury that started Savage on the bench last week. If he recuperated enough, he may try to pull the same trick on the Crimson which Savage pulled on the Crusaders last week. Bruce Remick, another fast runner, fills out the lineup of the regular Brown backfield. Jay Pattee, a blocking back of note, is a demon at kicking points after touchdown.
Best lineman on the Brown eleven is Jay Fidler, a tackle. The center or the Bruin line has been strengthened by Sophomore stars. Lon Regise, center, has been one of the spark plugs of Brown defense, while Phil Teacher and Tile Margarita, guards, block down the field for Brown runners.
George Hindmarsh and Bob Smith, ends, have seen action on the receiving end of Savage's passes.
