Comeford Gets Post In Shuffle of Team A

Boston Promoted; Durwood Is Tackle

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Recognition for services rendered came yesterday to Freshmen Jack Comeford and George Boston, the two men directly responsible for Harvard's lone score against Penn last Saturday.

Tailback Comeford was elevated by Dick Harlow to Team a, supplanting Don Richards. He thus became the first member of the Class of 1946 to win a starting berth, if only temporary, on the Crimson eleven.

And Boston, the Yardling who caught Comeford's fourth period heave with two Quaker defenders clinging to him, was promoted to Team B, in place of ace punter Wally Flynn. Boston's thumb is still in a cast, but the injury didn't seem to brother him Saturday.

Durwood at Tackle

Another change in the Varsity personnel brought Stan Durwood into the first eleven's left tackle slot. Durwood and George Hibbard have been battling neck-and-neck for the position all fall, but it looks as though Stan has won the first round.

Yesterday's practice was scrimmageless, Harlow still being wary of Old Man injury. The squad was out through a long punting drill early in the afternoon, and Comeford gave indications of being as good a punter as headman Wally Flynn. Flynn was up to snuff, too, and the pair matched booming kicks for 15 minutes. Boston also shone in the drill.

More William and Mary plays featured the workout, with the Varsity concentrating on pass defense. A long signal drill rounded out the session.

Jim Aldrich, who saw action in the Pre-Flight battle, but has been shelved since due to scholastic ineligibility, was back in harness, working out with the B squad.
