Richard Harte '17, who was First Marshal of his own graduating class, has been elected Chief Marshal to lead the Alumni at the Commencement exercises this June, the Association announced today.
Chosen at a meeting of the Association at the Harvard Club of Boston, Harte is a member of the class which is holding its 25th reunion in June. His duties as Chief Marshal will consist of directing the traditional procession of Alumni through the Yard on the afternoon of Commencement Day, and he will select the Aids and Marshals who will assist him with the day's alumni program.

A graduate of Pomfret School, Harte played football and baseball for the Crimson, and he was three times a partner on the international tennis doubles team.
Harte is president of the American Hardware Manufacturers Association, president of the Ames Baldwin Wyoming Company, and a director of several charitable institutions and industrial companies. He has formerly served as president of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Director of the National Association of Manufacturers. Director of National Industrial Conference Board.
Actively associated with the Republican Party, Harte has also been a member of the Republican Program Committee, and chairman of the Republican Finance Committee of West Virginia, his home state.
