FIRST VOTES FOR COUNCIL CAST TODAY

Polling to End Thursday; Ballots Must be Signed

Elections, the results of which will place six Juniors and three Sophomores on the governing body of next year's Student Council, will be held throughout the College today and tomorrow.

On both days voting will take place in the House dining halls at all meals, in the Dudley Commuter's center, and on Wednesday afternoon, in Memorial Hall before and after the Economics A exam. Ballots will also be avail bale in the clubs and the Signet Society, and in Wednesday between 11:45 and 1 o'clock.

Ballots Must Be Signed

Sophomores and Juniors will be the only students voting. In order to make their ballot official. They must sign their ballots and indicate their class.

Scheduled to be checked and counted on Thursday evening, the results of the election will be ready about 11 o'clock and may be obtained by telephoning the CRIMSON after that hour Thursday night.

More Added Later in Week

Further additions will be made to the Council later in the week when the nine men elected meet to appoint eight other members. The Council itself will then appoint five more members from the Junior class and three from the Sophomore class, selected not necessarily according to highest number of votes received, but with an eye to insuring a fair representation of Houses and other groups in College.

Established in 1908 to cooperate with the Faculty in the administration of the College and in "raising the general intellectual standard of Harvard." and to cooperate with the Athletic Committee in the supervision of athletic Committee in the supervision of athletic, the Council's working the past few years has increased greatly in importance to both Faculty and students through collaboration on mutual problems. The Council has also enlarged its usefulness by granting financial aid to needy students.
