Cancellation of the regular six week Naval Science cruise and the substitution of a shorter trip of a maximum length of 24 days, to be taken any time between June 1 and September 1, was announced yesterday by the Department of Naval Science and Tactics.
Eagle boats and small converted private yachts will probably carry most students in place of the destroyers sometimes available during times of less international tension. The Department has also been asked by the Navy to encourage its students to take their cruises as early as possible preferably before July 1.
With this announcement, the uncertainly surrounding the summer plans of many N.R.O.T.C. students is dispelled.
