Rhode Island State Bows To Crimson Golfers 8 1/2 to 1/2

The Varsity golfers took their first intercollegiate match in stride yesterday at Belmont, crushing a weakened Rhode Island State squad 8 1/2 to 1/2. Gill of the visitors gained a split with Captain Watty Dickerman of Harvard for the Rams' lone score.

Don Peddie and Pete MacGowan took the one and two matches 3-1 and 8-6 respectively; they won their best ball 4-3. Three man Don Elbel, Dickerman's partner, walloped Sweeney 8-7, and they annexed the best ball 5-4. Gerry Davis and Bill Allis got decisive 7-6 wins at five and six, and ran off with the best ball by the same margin.

The next match is with Boston University next Wednesday.
