Dartmouth Calls Off Winter Carnival, Spring Recesses

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Dartmouth's Winter Carnival, prime social event of the Hanover college, has been called off, and all post-Christmas recesses have been eliminated, in order to release students for military and general wartime service by May 10, President Ernest M. Hopkins announced yesterday.

Pushing up the commencement originally scheduled for June 14 will also necessitate the cancellation of all week-end social events, the Dartmouth faculty decided at an emergency meeting last Saturday night. Five weeks will thus be saved with no loss of academic work.
