Student Labor Group Keeps Up Strike Work

Undaunted by the defeat of the CIO at the Fore River Shipyard of Bethlehem Steel on November 19, the Harvard Fore River Student Labor Committee plans to continue its activity by aiding the striking workers of the Shea dry-cleaning plant on Massachusetts Avenue.

Functioning as an independent body, and led by Ralph Siegler '43 and Mark Schleffer '43, the group will continue to do labor field-work. Harvard students are expected to join the picketing of the plant this morning.

Only workers in the plant itself, not including branch-store clerks, are on strike for a union wage such as exists in other dry-cleaning plants of greater Boston, almost all of which are organized under the Amalgamated Clothing Workers--CIO.

The strike at the Shea plant is now in its third week. The Massachusetts Labor Board has already held an election in the plant in which the CIO was defeated, but the board is now reconsidering the verdict.
