To the Editor of the CRIMSON:
The disheartening cynicism displayed by certain vociferous young gentlemen here at Harvard with regard to the present struggle in Europe is not. I earnestly endeavor to believe, a general attitude. It is a curious fact, and a tragic one for America, that so many college students do not identify themselves vitally with the issues now at stake in France and Flanders. For them--and for all those whose preoccupation is with the balance of sacrifice and benefits returned--the words of Andre Chenier cannot be understood:
De quel prix est la vie.
