Adam Yarmolinsky, '43 has been awarded first prize for the best American Civilization Essay, it was announced yesterday. The subject of his work, which won a $50 prize, was "The Influence of Walt Whitman on Later American Poetry."
In addition to first prize three other Howard A. Fromson, and John Millard, awards were made. William A. Glynn, all Freshmen, received awards for their works, which dealt with topics of the American scene.
Four similar prizes were announced at mid-years. Dumas Malone, Director and Chairman of the Board of Syndics of the Press, chairman of the American Civilization Plan, stated that the wide interest among Freshmen had warranted the awarding of additional prizes.
