Leaving the "machine politicians" far in the rear, Theodore "Our Teddy" Sendak '40, polled according to final count 5,301 votes in his race for the Republican nomination to the Indiana Legislature, but ran second to another inexperienced politician who campaigned by parading pictures of his photogenic wife before the voters.
Far from discouraged in his first venture into politics, Sendak plans to try again in a few years for the same post. He attributes his loss only to the fact that he was missing from the scene of the political fray during the last few weeks of the campaign. The election took place on May 7; Ted had divisionals on May 6 and 8.
Ted polled high in the rural sections and in his home town, Gary, but the votes of neighboring communities brought about his defeat.
