"I am glad to know that students of Harvard are united in their determination to keep America out of foreign entanglements and war in spite of the internationalism of the presidents of Harvard, Yale, and Columbia," stated Representative Hamilton Fish '10 in a recent interview.
"My appeal to the youth of America is to stand steadfast on our traditional foreign policy laid down by George Washington in 1793--neutrality, non-intervention, no entangling alliances, and no entangling peace." Representative Fish continued.
"In the event of war there would be a blackout of American liberties and our free institutions within forty-eight hours. Our government would be as dictatorial as those of the fascist or nazist nation."
Heartily condemning the present war in Europe, Representative Fish warned against all "iams" (except Americanism), which might entangle the nation in it. "If these old nations of the world insist on going stark, raving mad, arming to the teeth, going to war, and committing suicide, there is no reason why we should commit suicide too."
With reference to subversive foreign influences, against which he wages continual warfare, the Representative stated that "I am in favor of immediately calling our American ambassador from Moscow and breaking off diplomatic relations with Russia, which is an unfriendly nation using its councils and representatives to spread revolutionary activity in the U. S.
"I would like to have all allen agitators, communist and fascist alike deported and to give their jobs to loyal American citizens now walking the streets looking for positions."
Captain and all-American on the Harvard football team of 1909, Representative Fish has been in Congress for twenty years and is now a member of both the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Rules.
