Giant Cornell Hoopsters Favored in Tilt Here Tonight

The Varsity hoopsters, who all year have been facing opposing players much taller than they are, will look even more diminutive than usual this evening when a Big Red team that really is big invades the Indoor Athletic Building at 8:30 o'clock.

The forwards and center on the Cornell five average six feet three in height and the guards are no midgets. Into the bargain, the entire team is composed of experienced veterans.

Bennett High Scorer

Jim Bennett, who is running Dartmouth's Gus Broberg a close race for the League lead in point scoring, is the outstanding star on the Ithacan aggregation.

As a Sophomore last year he ran second to Broberg in points scored. He stands six feet one and at 173 pounds is one of the lightest players on the team.

Duke Ramsey, a six foot five, 180 pound athlete, teams with Bennett at forward. He has averaged close to 10 points a game in League competition.

Howie Dunbar at center is a mere six foot three, but he weighs 205 pounds and is another potential scoring threat. Captain Al Vaughan and Ken Jolly will start at guards.

Cornell Tired?

All this sounds rather bad for Crimson chances, but the home team will have one hope for scoring an upset. That is that the boys from Ithaca will be tired out by their Odyssey, which has taken them to New Haven and to Hanover already this week.

Cornell disposed of Yale with ease Wednesday night and played the tough Dartmouth team only last night. Whether the boys are big enough and tough enough to stand the gaff of three games in four nights will be one of the big questions tonight.

Coach Wes Fesler will start the same Crimson five who have been playing regularly since midyears. Captain Charley Lutz and Bill Webber at forwards, Sam White at center, and Ed Buckley and Bud Finegan at guards will make up the starting lineup.

The Yardlings will try for their third straight victory tonight when they meet Governor Dummer at 7 o'clock on the Indoor Athletic Building floor.
