FENCERS SET FOR TOUGH SCHEDULE

Returning Lettermen Strengthen Squad; '44 Appears Powerful

Bulwarked by the presence of a number of veterans, including six returning lettermen from last year's squad, Coach Rene Perey's fencing team has begun practice for a rigorous schedule which opens in February.

Captain-Elect Ames Murphy and Tom Wright, both ineligible last season, are expected to add strength to a well-balanced aggregation, which features no individual stars, but possesses enough all around ability to make it a serious contender for championship honors.

Art Jaros and Ben Johnson, in foils competition; Paul Little field and Lynn Brown, in Epce; and Win Alberts and Robert Batt, in Sabers, are the returning members of last year's team.

The complete Varsity schedule is as follows:

February 8: Hartford Fencers Club at Harvard.

February 14: St. John's College, at New York.

February 15: Army, at West Point.

February 19: Brown, at Harvard.

February 22: Seton Hall, at South Orange.

March 1: Pentagonal Matches, at Princeton.

March 8: Columbia, at New York.

March 11: M. I. T., at Harvard.

March 15: Yale, at New Haven.

March 28 and 29: Intercollegiate Championships, at New York.

Jesse Cleveland, Assistant Manager, is in charge of the Freshman team, which boasts the presence of several prepschool stars among its 35 candidates. The Freshman schedule:

February 1: Exeter, at Exeter.

February 8: Andover, at Harvard.

February 19: Brown, at Harvard.

February 21: Loomis, at Harvard.

March 8: Worcester Academy, at Harvard.

March 12: M. I. T., at Harvard.

March 15: Yale, at New Haven.
