ALUMNI SET TO TACKLE MERMEN

Cutler, Scott, Greenhood Offer Big Threat to Varsity Swimmers

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Alumni came within a whisker of upsetting Hal Ulen's Varsity mermen last year and only succumber by a 34 to 32 score, and this season the grads are again going to provide serious opposition.

Rick Cutler would constitute a strong threat all by himself and he will be supported by several other tank standouts of recent years. Rusty Greenhood, George Scott, and Charley Hutter are some of the men who will be on hand tomorrow night in the Indoor Athletic Building pool for the season's curtain-raiser.

Cutler versus Powers

Cutler will meet Captain Frannie Powers in the 220, the feature race of the evening, and will probably try his hand in at least one other event. In the event that there is a 440 on the program, it will be Cutler versus prize Sophomore Bus Curwen and Bob White or Frank Gorman. Charley Pollak will be on hand to call out the laps for Cutler in the quarter.

Crimson Varsity dashmen will have their hands full with ex-Olympian Charley Hutter and George Scott. Scott seems to get better with age, cutting off a fraction of a second from his 50 time for every year he is out of college.

Brilliant Rusty Greenhood is sure to give up-and-coming Sophomore Shaw McCutcheon a run for his money in the dive if he does not beat him. Brad Patterson, another promising second-year man, will also be competing in that event.

Alumni strength in the specialty events seems to run a bit thinner, but it looks to be about even with the Varsity. The Alumni should win the breaststroke, while Bill Drucker and Dick Harris should take care of the backstroke for the Varsity.
