YARDLINGS FACE EXETER ELEVEN

Untested Team Plays Well in Varsity Scrimmage; Strong On Defense

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Rounding out its second week of practice, a heavy Freshman team will head north to Exeter this Saturday in an effort to overcome the first of the season jinx which generally sends Yardling teams down to defeat before their more experienced schoolboy fees.

With a 34 to 0 trouncing of Tilton already under its belt, Exeter will rule a slight favorite ever coach "Chief" Boston's charges. Last year the Freshmen bowed, 20 to 14, before the Red and Gray.

Sorimmage With Varsity

For the past week Boston has been scrimmaging the Yardlings regularly, sending them against Varsity opposition for the last two days.

Yesterday '44 looked good outside of pay dirt against the Jayvees, but bogged down when pressure was really needed to produce a touchdown. Defensively the team looks much better than it does on the offense, a natural state of affairs considering that the squad has been together only two weeks.

Boston named the two elevens which he expects to use Saturday. The tackle squad is big and especially strong, and there is at least one good player in each of the other departments.
