With the election of Alan Gottlieb '41, former Student Union head, as president, the Harvard Liberal Union set up its organization and prepared for action in a meeting in the Kirkland House Common Room last night.
The platform opposed the entry of the United States into the present European conflict, favored material aid to England and China, and supported the reelection of President Roosevelt. It was made clear at the meeting that platform did not preclude the possibility of war at some time in the future, however.
Other officers elected were William Hodson '42, vice-president, Michael Gannet '41, secretary-treasurer, and Roger Fisher '43, Malcolm McCloud '41, and Horace Bresler '41, members of the executive committee at large. Committees to carry on the work of the Union will be appointed as the issues arise.
